Translocation of N, P, and K in Mentik Wangi Rice (Oryza sativa L.) with the Application of Liquid Organic Fertilizer from Moringa Leaves (Moringa oleifera)

Mentik Wangi, a local aromatic rice variety valued for its fragrance and cooking quality, faces agronomic limitations including small grains, short stature, and susceptibility to pests and lodging. To address these constraints, this study examined the effect of Moringa leaf–based liquid organic fertilizer (LOF-Mo) on nutrient distribution in four rice varieties: Mentik Wangi, Inpari 32, Ciherang, and Situbagendit. A randomized complete block design was applied, and soil and plant analyses were conducted to measure nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) concentrations. Results showed that LOF-Mo significantly enhanced the availability and uptake of N, P, and K across all varieties, with Mentik Wangi exhibiting distinct nutrient allocation patterns that favoured vegetative over reproductive tissues. These findings suggest that LOF-Mo enhances nutrient use efficiency and offers potential as a sustainable fertilisation strategy, particularly for improving the productivity of local rice varieties, such as Mentik Wangi.Introduction
