Expression Difference of SLC6A4 Gene in Tumor and Normal Tissues and Its Influence on Survival

Abstract
We integrated GEPIA multi-omics database to systematically analyze the expression pattern and prognostic value of SLC6A4 gene in 33 cancers. Key findings revealed significant downregulation in 73.0% of cancer types, especially lung cancer, while it was upregulated in READ and showed no significant difference in BRCA and several other cancers, where lung adenocarcinoma was only 22.6% of normal tissue. Survival analysis showed that SLC6A4 expression was not significantly associated with breast cancer prognosis, but its gene mutation increased the risk of death to 4.1 times that of wild type patients and shortened the median survival time to 28.6 months. This study is the first to map the pan-cancer expression-survival profile of SLC6A4, providing molecular epidemiological evidence for the targeting of the PI3K pathway and the development of mutation detection kits.
