Global Burden of Diabetes and Public Health Implications of Immuno-Metabolic Interventions

Abstract
Diabetes is a major global public health issue with rising prevalence, burdening individuals, families, and healthcare systems. This article analyzes prevalence, burden, and influencing factors across populations like youth, adults, elderly, and urban/rural residents with varying incomes. It focuses on economic disparities, diagnostic/treatment differences, and medical resource gaps that widen health inequalities. Results show socio-economic status, urban-rural divides, age, and occupation link to diabetes incidence, diagnosis, and treatment outcomes. High-risk groups include low-income individuals, rural residents, and stressed working adults, who face limited prevention and treatment access, leading to under-diagnosis, severe complications, and poor outcomes. The paper explores AI’s potential and challenges in diabetes diagnosis, treatment, and management, highlighting benefits in risk prediction and monitoring, but limitations in resource-poor settings. Recommendations are made to enhance prevention, optimize care plans, allocate resources fairly, improve healthcare access and equity, and reduce health disparities. This supports developing comprehensive, feasible strategies for a sustainable global diabetes control system.
