Application Progress of Polysaccharide hydrogel in Tumor Immunotherapy

Abstract
Tumor immunotherapy is an unprecedented advance in cancer treatment, which has a wide application in multiple kinds of tumors. There are three kinds of cancer immunotherapies, including CAR-T cells therapy, immune check point therapy and immune vaccine therapy. Compared with radiotherapy and chemotherapy, it causes less suffering and burdens. However, its curative effect on solid tumor is limited due to inadequate tumor infiltration of drugs and some side effects to normal T cells in the body. Polysaccharide hydrogel is currently popular among researchers, due to its unique biochemical and mechanical properties including porous structure, biocompatability and biodegradability etc. Hydrogels are basically employed as packaging materials to protect several active substances. Therefore, it is worthwhile to investigate the use of polysaccharide hydrogel as a carrier to deliver drugs directly to solid tumor. This review aims to summarize the current applications of polysaccharide hydrogel in refining tumor immunotherapy, and provide a new perspective in cancer treatment.
