Research Progress on the Mechanism of NLRP3 Inflammasome in Myocardial Infarction and Its Targeted Regulation

Abstract
Myocardial infarction is one of the leading causes of death in the world and inflammation plays a key role in its development and progression. The NLRP3 inflammasome has been recogized as a bridge between the inflammation and cardiomyocyte damage.The paper is a review of the NLRP3 inflammasome activation process and its role in myocardial infarction. The action of the NLRP3 will trigger the release of the pro-inflammatory cytokines and pyroptosis, which aggravates the injury to the heart muscle and promotes ventricular remodelling. According to recent studies, it has been found that by suppressing the inflammasome or controlling the upstream signals including oxidative stress, it is possible to reduce the damage to the heart muscles. In addition, the clinical data shows that the pathways of the inflammasomes can be regulated in the patients.In conclusion, the NLRP3 inflammasome represents a potential therapeutic target in myocardial infarction, although further clinical studies are needed.
