Sports tourism development in rural destination: The case of bone bolango in gorontalo province

Abstract
This research aims to explore the development, identify problems, and confirm the quality of sports tourism in rural destinations. To increase the rigor and trustworthiness of this case study data, three sample destinations were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Secondary data were collected through literature review, document review, and content analysis. Primary data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 12 respondents directly involved in tourism. We also involved 93 local visitors to confirm the quality of sports tourism development components in rural destinations. Based on the results of the study, indicators that must be considered in the development of sports tourism in rural destinations in Bone Bolango, namely: (1) additional infrastructure from attraction aspect, (2) destination cleanliness, the sense of security and safety, culinary, friendliness of the locals from services aspect, (3) quality of information from information aspect, and (4) local transport from transportation aspect. Based on these findings, the idea of a sustainable sports tourism development strategy should be considered.
