Synergy of Use Tridax procumbens Mixed with Eggshells as Organic Briquettes Fertilizer and Botanical Pesticides in Maize and Eggplant Polyculture

Abstract
Organic waste management, such as weeds and eggshells, can improve plant growth and development. Research combining Tridax procumbens with eggshell as organic fertilizers and botanical pesticides remains relatively limited. The objective of this study was to evaluate the synergistic use of T. procumbens and eggshells as organic briquette fertilizer and botanical pesticide to enhance crop productivity and arthropod diversity in a maize-eggplant polyculture system. The method used was a split-plot design with 8 treatment mixtures, each replicated 4 times, for a total of 192 maize and eggplant plants. The research stages included preparation, production of organic briquette fertilizer and botanical pesticide, application, and observation. The results showed that the optimal concentration was obtained from botanical pesticide R4 (15%) and the organic briquette fertilizer dose N2 (200 g). Organic briquette fertilizer containing N (1.53%), P (0.003%), K (1.72%), and Ca (6.78%) had a significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, and fruit weight in maize and eggplant. The Eucalyptol content in the botanical pesticides had the highest probability (89.07%). Arthropod diversity exhibits moderate variation, relatively balanced dominance, and a low level of uniformity. Bactrocera is the most dominant genus and acts as a plant-feeding insect.
