The article deals with present approaches to evaluating climate diagrams of Walter-Gossen and Ball-Taylor. Climate diagrams of Ball-Taylor were modified with new methodical elements (base growth temperature line and index of aridity) showing the peculiarities of territories and the ecology of species. Analysis of the growth activity of annual shoots of J. oblonga plants and morphological and anatomical characteristics of the leaves of Platanus orientalis L., Quercus robur L., Ulmus pumila L. in Makhachkala with the use of modified climate diagrams of Ball-Taylor has allowed to get a complete picture of the adaptive mechanisms of plants of these types to weather conditions.
