The article presents the results of mathematical modeling of biogeochemical cycles in the Azov Sea taking into account spatially three-dimensional processes of hydrodynamics, transport and transformation of biogenic substances, and plankton populations based on the Azov3D software package, which has proven itself as an effective tool for analyzing and forecasting hydrophysical processes in coastal and marine ecosystems. The main attention is paid to the description of the features of the used combined 3D models of hydrodynamics, transport, dynamics of biogenic substances and plankton populations, as well as the functional capabilities of the complex, which include modeling the dynamics of nutrients, the distribution of organic matter and the interaction of various components of the ecosystem. The article discusses in detail the practical aspects of using Azov3D, such as modeling biogeochemical cycles, assessing anthropogenic impact on the marine environment and forecasting hazardous environmental processes, including fish kills. Particular attention is paid to the possibility of integrating in-situ observations and satellite monitoring data into models, which increases the efficiency and reliability of forecasts.
