A method for constructing a decision support system within the field of technical support for production operations in the penal institutions of the Russian Federation is being examined in this paper. Methods for managing the reliability of technological equipment used in the activities of departmental forest processing shops are studied. A maintenance management model for machine tools utilized in production is introduced, followed by testing the model with different sets of system parameters. The problem of optimizing the maintenance of forest processing equipment is formulated as an optimal control problem. Using explicit difference schemes, a discrete optimal control problem is constructed, for which the necessary optimality conditions are formulated. Taking into account the obtained relations, an algorithm for numerical solution of the problem using gradient methods is proposed.
