This research aims to investigate the downstream strategy of applied research results for the commercialization and application of research results in Indonesian research institutions, using the exploratory case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with six participants from three higher education research institutions, two government research institutions and one technology transfer office. In addition, we analyzed policy documents and applied research management guidelines. The study identifies issues such as inadequate measurement of technology readiness and misalignment with user needs. These problems can be mitigated through improved research planning and community-focused applications, with a particular emphasis on enhancing human resources and downstream technology transfer facilities. The study highlights a distinctive strategy in universities' management of research results by integrating them into learning activities and community empowerment. This approach offers valuable insights for optimizing research impact in developing countries.
