Table 1.
Entities describing the experimental context.
Entity | Definition |
---|---|
Person | Human person |
Project | A research project is the general framework for research activities, including one or more experiments, depending on the project objectives. It is generally the object of a contract or a grant agreement between the laboratory performing the research activities and funding agencies providing financial support. |
Experiment | A planned and organized inquiry designed to test a hypothesis, answer a question, or discover new facts. |
Experimental design | The set of rules and procedures by which the treatments are assigned to experimental units. |
Experimental factor | The object of a study is to ascertain the impact of one or more factors on the biological material. Thus, a factor is, by definition, a condition that varies between observation units, which may be biotic (pest, disease interaction) or abiotic (treatment and cultural practice) in nature. |
Annotation | Annotations are free comments, which provide additional synthetic information to facilitate the understanding and interpretation of the data. |
Farm | A farm is the structure or legal entity whose objective is to organize production on the plot. It is characterized by a unique management and its own means of production. |
Field | A field is a plot of land with the same plant population to which the same technical management is applied. |
Soil | Soil is an environmental material, which is primarily composed of minerals, varying proportions of sand, silt, and clay, organic material such as humus, gases, liquids, and a broad range of resident micro and macro organisms. |
Technical management | The technical management is the logical and ordered combination of techniques implemented on a plot of land to obtain a production. |
