Treatment and group prevention of dyspepsia in lambs

This article examines the issues of diagnosis and etiopathogenetic therapy of dyspepsia in lambs born both from clinically healthy pregnant ewes and from ewes with clinical and subclinical forms of metabolic diseases such as ketonuria, alimentary osteodystrophy, alimentary dystrophy, and hepatodystrophy. This confirms the dominant etiological role of metabolic disorders in pregnant ewes in developing dyspepsia in lambs. It has been established that lambs suffering from dyspepsia exhibit reduced motor activity, weakening (or disappearance) of the sucking reflex, diarrhea, eyeball recession (enophthalmos), decreased skin turgor, ataxia, depression, peripheral hypothermia, as well as signs of cardiovascular and respiratory system disorders. The high therapeutic effectiveness of antibiotics, probiotics, infusion solutions, and the infusion of the Elbakhor plant in treating dyspepsia in lambs has been substantiated. The article also presents the essence of a comprehensive preventive method aimed at simultaneously normalizing metabolism in pregnant ewes and eliminating postnatal causes of dyspepsia in their offspring. An analysis of experimental data confirms the high preventive efficacy of the combined use of the Innoprovet probiotic, LPP-1 premix, Elbakhor plant infusion, and a specially enriched pelleted compound feed in preventing dyspepsia in lambs.
