- EU geographical indications scheme is designed to protect the reputation of regional foods and preserve local traditions, by helping producers earn a premium price for products. EU geographical indications scheme involve a wide range of foodstuffs and beverages, and particular rules apply to the wine sector. Quality wines within the EU geographical indications schemes can also add the organic logo to their label as a vehicle for valuable product information.
